Bad luck for Kolles at Le Mans

Kolles was out of luck at the 78th edition at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The Audi R10 TDI of Christophe Bouchut, Manuel Rodrigues and Scott Tucker (#15) crashed after approximately half a distance of the race. The car was irreparable and forced the team to retire. The sister car with Christijan Albers, Christian Bakkerud and Oliver Jarvis (#14) had to stop due to a gearbox problem only 90 minutes before the chequered flag at 13:30 on 7th position and eight laps ahead of AIM Team Oreca Matmut, which finished 4th .

Until that time, Kolles performed well and could implement their strategy totally. Without these issues, a position amongst the top five would have been within the team’s reach. During the night, especially Dutch Christijan Albers did a great job when setting the team’s fastet lap time of 3:27.937.

Dr Colin Kolles:”Unfortunately, we couldn’t recap our great result from last year. Both cars had to retire before the chequered flag which is pretty disappointing. Especially that we were on 9th position only 90 minutes before the end of the race. All in all, I was very happy with our performance and the job our drivers did.”
